Alexander Technical Course & Contact Improvisation

In Une respiration (A Breath), Hubert Godard evokes the imagery of the rabbit sniffing its surroundings, its head suspended in the position that best captures the scents, sounds, shapes, and movements of its environment. This gesture belongs neither to the animal nor to the environment. It arises from their coupling, from the relationship that mutually constitutes them.

⏐GESTURE⏐MEANING⏐RECURSIVITY⏐?⏐

The gesture names this inseparability of action, being, and feeling. It "makes sense"; it is that through which a world reveals itself. It does not pre-exist its execution. It emerges from the very act of unfolding. (Emma Bigé)

To smell .

Before movement, there is orientation. An attention that seeks nothing specific but remains open to everything. A threshold, a state of flux, a quality of presence from which what was not yet foreseen can emerge.

⏐LITTLE DANCE ⏐BEING WITH⏐MAINTAINING OPENNESS TO INDECISION⏐?⏐

To fall .

Living beings only sense in order to continue their movement, and only move in order to better sense (Barbaras). This loop between sensing and moving finds its touchstone in weight: we never encounter the world without falling, even if only by a few grams. In Contact Improvisation as in the Alexander Technique, this slight surrender to weight is what makes precision possible.

⏐FALL⏐EXPLORATION⏐DISORTION⏐?⏐

To play .

Instinct is not a fixed program. It deforms, invents itself, and modulates itself under the pressure of an enthusiasm that surpasses it. It is in this space of play, this laboratory of living forms, that inventiveness becomes possible, not as a forced creative feat, but as a natural overflow of focused attention.

⏐VARIATION⏐EXPLORATION⏐AFFECTS⏐?⏐

What we will explore during these days is not to fill our heads (to fill up) but to tune up our actions (to tune up), to refine this ability to adjust, finely and in real time, our presence to what comes to meet us.

CI, a path to
Replace Fear with Love

20230812 Coquelicot.jpg

In a world where fear and anxiety are omnipresent, it is essential to find ways to reconnect with oneself and with others.

Fear
Fear is a fundamental emotion that results from a feeling of imminent threat or danger. It can be triggered by real or imagined situations and often provokes a fight-or-flight response. In the context of dance, fear can be linked to physical discomfort, social anxiety, fear of judgment, or...

Love
Love is such a powerful and complex emotion that it is difficult to describe in words. It is an indescribable bond that unites people. It transcends barriers and differences, creating a profound connection between hearts. It is a feeling that goes beyond appearances and judgments, embracing purity and/or unconditional acceptance.

The CI
Contact Improvisation Dance is based, among other things, on mutual listening, sharing of energy and respect for each person's body.
This practice is a powerful way to connect with others, to express our deepest emotions, to explore our inner being, etc...

CI is an artistic and physical practice that helps us achieve this inner transformation. By moving forward in presence, listening, and sharing with other participants, we gradually move from fear to Love.
CI is a form of expression that allows us to transcend emotional and physical barriers to establish a deep connection with ourselves and others. In this journey, one of the keys is moving from fear to love.
And conversely, overcoming fear allows us to move forward in the practice of CI.

During these labs, our practice will help us develop and/or improve body awareness and overcome fears that can sometimes hinder relational and/or artistic expression.
